Description: Blackwall Frigate Walmer Castle, India. c1865. Launched in 1855, 1064 gross tons and measured 193 feet with a 35 foot beam. Undre her first master Captain C.L. Daniel she began her career with two round trips from London to Melbourne, each taking approximately one year. After being commissioned to take troops to India at the end of the Indian Mutiny, she began ten years of of regular sailings to Calcutta, Madras and China. Destroyed by fire Christmas Day 1876.
